Adam Kembrooke

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Adam is the Founder and CEO of Amiga Specialty. He has spent the last 15 of his 25 years in insurance dedicated to the delegated authority space, building underwriting platforms and growing MGA businesses across international markets.

A lawyer by background, Adam began his career practising in London and New York, advising insurance companies on litigation and non-contentious matters. He went on to co-found a wholesale platform for one of the world's largest reinsurers, evaluating, supporting and growing MGAs as a capacity provider. He subsequently built and led the US operations of Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, one of the largest international MGAs.

Adam founded Amiga Specialty in 2025 to be underwriting-led, people-first and globally minded from day one, with a goal of creating value through strategic acquisitions and organic growth driven by deep industry expertise and exceptional service. Outside of work Adam's focus is on his family, he is a proud husband, father of two children and two dogs.

Colin Thompson

Director (Founder and Group CEO of Sodalis Capital)

Colin is the Founder and Group CEO of Sodalis Capital.

Colin was the original founder and CEO of Nexus Underwriting / Kentro Capital which he formed in 2008 and ultimately sold to Brown and Brown in 2023. After taking a short career pause, Colin saw an opportunity in the market to create a new insurance intermediary with purpose and spearheaded the investment to create Sodalis Capital.

During his career Colin has launched multiple new start insurance businesses and has also acquired over 30 businesses along the way. He is an experienced raiser of capital (both debt & equity) and has created in excess of $500m of monetised shareholder value throughout his career.

Outside of work Colin is a keen marathon runner and avid collector of classic motorcycles. He is the proud father to his two young daughters who do a great job of keeping him busy and on his toes.

Colin holds a BA (Hons) in Law and History from Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge.

Martin Mills

Non-Executive Chairman

Martin joins Amiga Specialty as Non-Executive Chairman, bringing his corporate governance experience to support the MGA's ambitious growth plans.

Martin founded travel and personal accident specialist Millstream Underwriting in 1999 and built it into a market-leading, eponymous MGA, serving as Managing Director until its acquisition by Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital in 2015. Following the deal he remained involved as Non-Executive Director of Millstream, exiting the business in 2023 when Nexus was acquired by Brown & Brown.

At Amiga, Martin looks forward to helping the business expand its specialty underwriting capabilities into product areas akin to the MGA he built, drawing on over two decades of experience growing a niche underwriting business from the ground up.

Ralph Sherbahn

Managing Director — Financial Lines (Asia Pac)

Ralph has 25+ years of Financial Lines and Casualty underwriting experience on both the direct insurance and reinsurance segments of which over 17 years focused on Asian markets. He has worked for leading international companies such as XL Insurance (today AXA XL), Swiss Re, Gen Re, The Hartford and Houston Casualty Co (today HCC Tokio Marine). He has thorough knowledge of the international insurance and reinsurance markets attained through working experience in the US, Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Zurich, Barcelona and Paris primarily in Regional Underwriting Management roles. He is best known for his past performance as a start-up underwriting specialist for the build-up of new teams, products and distribution in Asia over the past 25 years.

Outside of work Ralph is a proud father of 1 daughter. Born in Germany, and raised in Anchorage, Alaska for most of his youth and early adult life is an avid mountain sports enthusiast with off-piste skiing as his lifetime passion. Ralph is a permanent resident of Hong Kong as well as a dual US / German citizen.

Richard Mills

Managing Director — Transactional Risks

Richard joined Amiga Specialty as Managing Director, Transactional Risks, UK & Europe, where he is responsible for building out the firm's transactional risks proposition, including strategic positioning, distribution and carrier partnerships.

Richard began his insurance career in 2018 at Capital Risks, before moving to Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, where he most recently served as Transactional Risks Director. Prior to entering the insurance market, he built a career in law, holding roles at leading firms including Linklaters and Proskauer Rose. Outside of work Richard is a sommelier and (like most sommeliers and practitioners of haute cuisine) a Millwall fan.

James Rasmussen

Managing Director — Management Liability

James has over 25 years of experience in Financial Lines insurance, spanning both broking and underwriting. He has a proven track record within Management Liability, including founding his own MGA start-up (Plus Risk Limited) before being acquired by Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital. He has also held senior roles with leading market participants such as Head of Private Company Management Liability at Travelers and roles at Chubb, Marsh, Willis & Aon.

Outside of work, James enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and supporting Chelsea FC.

Jamie Ricketts

Managing Director — Financial Lines

Jamie has over 20 years' experience in the insurance market, specialising in Financial Institutions, Directors & Officers Liability and Pension Trustee Liability risks. Prior to joining Amiga Specialty as Managing Director — Financial Lines, Jamie spent more than 15 years at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, where he built and led the Financial Institutions division, growing it into a market-leading business with a broad international footprint.

Outside of work, Jamie is assistant manager of his son's Under-14 football team, proudly sponsored by Amiga Specialty, and spends much of his spare time on the touchline or ferrying his children between various sporting and social commitments. When time allows, he enjoys a round of golf, although most weekends are now dictated by youth football fixtures and family logistics!

Managing Director — Professional Indemnity

David Filtness leads Amiga Specialty’s Professional Indemnity division, with responsibility for developing a focused, sustainable and broker-led PI proposition.

David has spent over 25 years specialising in Professional Indemnity, working across broking, insurer and MGA environments. He joined Amiga from Chubb UK & Ireland, where he was Head of Professional Indemnity, and has also held senior roles at Arch Insurance, Towergate Underwriting, Gallagher and Aon.

Known for his relationship-led approach, technical underwriting expertise and commercial market insight, David is focused on delivering a responsive, consistent and disciplined PI proposition for brokers, clients and capacity partners.

Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his family, including his two young children, and is an Arsenal season ticket holder.

Managing Director — Yachts

Jason has over 25 years of experience as a Yacht Underwriter in the Lloyd's Of London insurance market.

Where he spearheaded Underwriting operations for high value yacht insurance, managing a diverse portfolio of business.

He was elected as the London yacht market representative to the International Union Of Marine Insurance (IUMI), where he served on the committee for 5 years.

Outside of work Jason spends his weekends running through Central London parks and trying to get fit.

Ben Cannon

Managing Director — General Aviation

Ben brings 20 years of specialist experience in the General Aviation insurance market. He joined Amiga Specialty from Allianz Commercial, where he managed a vast Global General Aviation portfolio.

Widely recognised as a market leader, Ben has led the underwriting of some of the most complex and challenging risks in the aviation marketplace. He is known for his relationship-driven approach, deep technical expertise, and keen market insight, earning the trust of clients, brokers, and industry partners alike.

Outside of work, Ben is a proud father of three children and spends much of his time supporting their sporting pursuits, regularly travelling the length and breadth of the UK's motorways to cheer them on from the sidelines.

Samuel Batchelor

Head of European Transactions

Sam joined Amiga in November 2025 as the Head of Europe for the Transactional Liability team. Focusing on growing Amiga's European TL book, as well supporting underwriting across the team, Sam supports brokers and clients alike across both Europe (Nordics, DACH, CEE, France, Iberia and beyond) and the London Market. Sam also works on complex transactions and contingent risks. Prior to joining Amiga, Sam spent a short period working in the TL team at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, and prior to that was a Partner for 5 years at Themis Underwriting, a niche Transaction Liability MGA.

Sam is a qualified lawyer in England & Wales, and spent five years practising as a corporate lawyer, focused on M&A, joint ventures, reorganisations, alternative capital and ILS, and start-ups.

When not working on all things M&A, Sam spends his time cooking and trying new restaurants or spending time with his 9-year-old son. He can also often be found accompanied by his two Labradoodles, who also make regular appearances in the City.

Assistant Underwriter

George is an Assistant Underwriter at Amiga Specialty, supporting the underwriting of UK and European Warranty & Indemnity insurance policies. He began his career in transactional risk insurance at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, where he spent 14 months before joining the team at Amiga Specialty.

Outside of work, George is a passionate Arsenal supporter who also enjoys running.

Underwriter

Meea Keziah is a Transactional Risks Underwriter at Amiga Specialty, underwriting UK and European Warranty & Indemnity insurance policies. She began her insurance career at Navium Marine before spending 4 years at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, specialising in transactional risk insurance.

She firmly believes there's always room for one more houseplant, one more travel itinerary, and one more restaurant recommendation.

Neil Ede

Senior Underwriter

Neil's current role involves underwriting the more complex risks for all classes of management liability business (D&O, EPL, Crime and PTL), as well as providing training and support to more junior members of the Management Liability team. Over the years Neil has held various different roles in the Financial Lines underwriting sphere, spanning a period of more than 25 years. Starting as a 'Liabilities' underwriting assistant at Sun Alliance, he then held roles at Aviva, AIG for 10 years and Chubb for 5 years, before moving into the MGA space as one of the founding members of Plus Risk Limited, which was a new Financial Lines focused MGA set up by James Rasmussen. Plus Risk was acquired by Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital to be their commercial Financial Lines pillar in 2020. After 5 years at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, Neil left to join Amiga in April 2026.

Outside of work, when not financially crippled by putting his twins through university, Neil likes to play golf, go fishing and tinker with/polish/occasionally drive his sports car. He also (sadly) follows Everton as his football team as well as keeping an eye on the performance of Watford FC as his local side.

Richard has over 15 years' experience in the insurance market, specialising in Financial Institutions, Directors & Officers Liability. Prior to joining Amiga Specialty as Senior Underwriter within the FI department, Richard held roles at other companies across both the MGA and Lloyd's environments at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, ArgoGlobal & DUAL Corporate Risks.

Away from work, Richard is involved in youth football coaching holding a role as a coach at Ferdinand Collective Southend & is the manager of his son's U10's football team in Great Wakering. A keen sports lover, Richard can be found either on a golf course or cricket pitch when he's not spending time with his family.

Alex has over 5 years' experience in the insurance market, specialising in Financial Institutions and Commercial Directors' and Officers' Liability. Prior to joining Amiga Specialty as an Underwriter within the FI Department, Alex has also held roles at other companies including Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital and Howden Insurance Brokers. Prior to this, Alex also has 4 years' experience of working in accountancy. Alex holds a BA (Honours) Degree in History from the University of Southampton.

Away from work, Alex is an avid runner and swimmer.

Chantell is a Senior Underwriter within the FI team and has over 20 years' experience in the insurance market. Chantell commenced her insurance career with Newline Group before joining Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, where she spent 17 years building expertise in Financial Institutions underwriting.

Outside of work, Chantell enjoys spending time with her family and supporting her children's many extracurricular activities. She particularly values family holidays, which provide an opportunity for everyone to relax, reconnect and enjoy time together in the sun.

Rita Mistry-Rodi

Senior Underwriter

Rita is a Senior Underwriter at Amiga Specialty, specialising in Financial Institutions risks across D&O, Professional Indemnity, Crime and related lines. She is responsible for underwriting and pricing complex international risks, as well as developing broker relationships to drive new and renewal business.

Rita has over 20 years' experience in the London Market, having held senior underwriting and leadership roles at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, ArgoGlobal (Lloyd's Syndicate 1200) and Dual Corporate Risks.

Prior to joining Amiga, Rita was Unit Head – Financial Institutions at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, where she was responsible for underwriting strategy, financial planning, and delivery of business plan targets across the D&O/FI portfolio.

She holds a degree in Actuarial Science from City University. Outside of work, Rita enjoys running having completed the New York marathon, cooking, and travelling the world.

Rory has over 7 years' experience in the insurance market with a strong track record in risk assessment, portfolio management, and broker relationships. He has spent the last 3 years specialising in Cyber. Prior to joining Amiga Specialty within the Cyber department, Rory held the role of Underwriter at Howden Broking, having started his career at DUAL Group underwriting Political Violence. Rory holds a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management from the University of Edinburgh.

Outside of work, Rory is a keen sportsman and fan, with particular interests in golf, tennis and football (an Aston Villa supporter, for his sins).

Denis Nifontov

Head of Middle East

Denis joins to lead our expansion across the Middle East, bringing deep M&A and transactional risk expertise from previous senior roles in insurance. Denis is a qualified Solicitor of England and Wales, having trained and subsequently worked at law firm HFW.

In his previous role at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital, Denis was heavily involved with expanding the SME W&I and responsible for establishing Nexus Underwriting's Middle East operations in Dubai (including integration of acquisitions, as well as all of the regulatory and legal operations). He also built a MENA W&I offering within this operation.

After graduating with a degree in Banking and Finance, Becky began her career at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital in 2020 as an Underwriting Assistant, where she then spent over five years in the Management Liability team building her experience within the insurance industry. Becky recently joined Amiga as a Management Liability Underwriter and enjoys working closely with brokers to provide a responsive and reliable service. Outside of work, she enjoys keeping active through netball, golf and badminton, as well as baking for friends and family.

Harry has over 7 years experience in the London Insurance market, spending the last 5 years specialising in Professional Indemnity. Harry has worked in both insurer and MGA environments. He joined Amiga from Intact (Formerly RSA), where he was Underwriting Professional Indemnity, and has also worked at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital. Harry brings great experience and a strong foundation in Professional Indemnity Insurance, further strengthening our capability as we continue to grow. Harry is focused on delivering a responsive, consistent and disciplined PI proposition for brokers, clients and capacity partners.

Outside of work, Harry enjoys the gym and traveling.

Andrew has over 35 years' insurance experience, starting as a financial lines insurance broker at HSBC Insurance Broker in 1990 where he ended up, after 11 years' service, managing a portfolio of UK and international risks on both a wholesale and retail basis. 9 years followed at Dual London as director and senior underwriter. Andrew then started and built a financial lines practice at a Lloyd's syndicate for 10 years before joining Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital in 2020.

Andrew holds a BA (Hons) degree in French from Durham University.

Away from work, Andrew enjoys watching sport and walking (usually with dogs). Andrew also engages in angling, golf and gardening albeit that he is not overly proficient at any of them.

Frederick Gotts

Underwriting Assistant

Fred joined as an Underwriting Assistant in Amiga's Transactional Risk team, where he supports the underwriting of Warranty & Indemnity (W&I) insurance policies and contribute across the wider underwriting process.

Prior to joining Amiga, Fred studied Geography at Newcastle University before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) at The University of Law. He has previous experience in the insurance market as an Intern at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital.

Outside of work, he plays cricket and serve as Social Secretary for Hackney Cricket Club. If he's not playing cricket, he enjoys getting outdoors, with weekends often spent hiking and camping.

Archie joined Amiga as an Underwriting Admin Assistant, having previously interned at Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital. Archie supports the underwriting team with a range of responsibilities, helping to ensure policies and processes are managed efficiently while delivering a high standard of service.

Outside of work, Arch enjoys playing football, golf and padel. As well as staying active and spending time with friends and family.

After completing an apprenticeship at the Mayor's Office, Halim joined Nexus Underwriting/ Kentro Capital in the Management Liability team, where he spent three years gaining valuable experience within the insurance industry. He recently joined Amiga as an Underwriting Assistant, where he supports the underwriting team and continues to build his expertise. Outside of work, he is a keen Formula 1 fan, and also enjoys playing tennis and golf.
